Growing things

Spring is time to do many new projects. My apartment lacks greenery and I want the warmth of feeling that living things bring and as well as improved air quality. Living in an apartment is not something I want to live in the rest of my life. It's lacks the more natural state of a home and nature.

Wifey has bought plants to maintain. She's even named them
It's been a long time since I had herbs. Too long..

I wish to grow my own.

However, I am not used to growing my own plants indoors. We have some definate disadvantages when growing indoors compared to growing outdoors. I want to start an herb garden but many gardens require bright sunlight. Yet, in Korea with the way the sun can disappear for days in the Spring and Summer, and during the rainning season, light is not always available.
There are some plants that will grow well with only a few hours of sun exposure a day. These are sweet wooddruff, anise hyssop, wild ginger, parsley, shiso, lemon balm, and spice bush. Of these herbs only two I have grown and have eaten. The rest are new to me.

There are other things that I wish to grow for their medicinal properties that require light. Also growing some organic vegetables would be nice.

To do this will require creativity on my part. For one thing, I can get a lot of light by attaching my plants to the windows. A hanging garden is a useful idea.

To roughly explain, it should hang off a strong wire on top and bottom. Wire hangers could be used or chicken wire. Here's my first sketch.  The holders can be made with milk cartoons which is a great way to reuse a material. The soil could be made from composted soil.

Anyway I am really excited about the idea.
