Then we went for a bike ride to begin our day off. The destination was a library which turned out to have a great English book section of botany, food, nutrition, ecology, and biography. My favorite reading material!
The ride took an hour with a grueling 30minute climb up a hill. Near the top I took this picture. She is 5ft tall and is built of bone and skin and she climbed the hill. It's impressive. I've nicknamed her 작은 호랑이 누나님 which means little tiger older sister.
I'm filthy. I'm covered in dirt from farming, my legs are chewed from thorny vines, and my back is begining to look like a lobster. Yet, I'm very happy.
We didn't have much time at the library. I new Wwoofer would be arriving at 8pm so we had to travel back in time to get to the beach for a quick swim in the refreshing waters.
We got stopped along the way by the fisherman friends who we saw on the way to the swimming area. The grandmother of the family said we couldn't go to the beach using the little Korean I understand. She wanted us to catch her snails. I really like to do this so I happily joined her.
The mothers of the family joined us and we have quite an impressive pile.
I really like fishermans set up. You can see the scuba gear on the right because one of the sons is also a diving instructor.
The Wwoofer came at 830. I run down the road to catch her while JH finished making our dinner. She joined us for dinner. Quickly it became very clear that she didn't understand what we were about and the look on her face told me she was over her head. She doesn't like raw fish. She doesn't eat organic food. She didn't understand why we didn't go to the grocery store. She didn't know about the meditation and the gumdo. She was clueless and I want to do as much as I can to make this week for her as comfortable as possible and maybe she can learn something or get some enjoyment from it.
I ate her soup which had raw fish in it and talked a lot.
We did gumdo and meditation, and which JH suddenly decided I should lead. So I did. A little slow at first but better. I asked Jacklin what she was thinking about during meditation. She shrugged her shoulders which I admit could mean anything. Still, I'm concerned about what she thinks about all this. Can she do it? Of course, we can all do something for a week. I hope she enjoys it.
