Supporting the Local Korean Farmer

An environ"mental"ist :) and friend Mike is a contact person for a CSA called "Heuk Salim." Mike runs Daegu Green Living. For those who don't know what a CSA is, it is an organization of farmers which provide shipments of local produce to folks who really want safe foods into their diet. It supports the little guy who is producing ethical high quality food.

The possibility to participate in the CSA made me really excited so I've signed up.  The little guy needs help and we need his help. The little guy can put more care into what he does and he can give us higher quality and fresher food. By participating more in the local economy we are supporting the good people.

If you don't agree with me than at least you can eat healthier food this way.

The price of joining the program varies depending on how frequently you want to get their boxes. They offer 1, 2, and for shipments a month. They have Omnivore and Vegan options.

They offer what is available and local so the items can vary a bit. Usually fruits and vegetables and eggs. Less often there is dairy. In rarer cases meat. The vegan option gives more fruit and vegetables and tofu.

The costs:

One delivery a month: 30,000
Two deliveries a month: 50,000
Four deliveries a month: 100,000

If your interested in getting a box of produce, please email Mike at noksaeksari at gmail.com. He will take your personal information and bank account number to set up the deliveries.

Good stuff.

  1. First of all, nice revamp on the blog! Looks good.

Thanks for the plug. There was an email from Heuk waiting for me when we got back from our Chuseok bike massacre. They said that for foreigners (well, I suppose also Koreans) who sign up through Daegu Green Living, they'll reduce the price of the once-a-month package to only 25,000 won. I'll be blogging about it soon enough^^
