How to Shop On Gmarket For Organic Food

There are ways to get buy organic food online are better  than GMarket, like finding a farmer to buy directly from his farm. However, for a foreigner, this may be daunting at first so I've provided a tutorial to navigate t GMarket to find organic food.

Why should you shop organic on GMarket? Well, you can get your staple root vegetables and rice from the shop there.

So here we go:

Step 1: Go to www.gmarket.com

Step 2: Select the English Option on the right hand side of the screen. The resulting screen should apear below.

Step 3: Sign In or Register

Step 4: Select Groceries.

Step 5: Type in 유기농.

Step 6: Select a Sub Category.

Step 7: Select the food from your list.

Step 8: Select the option and amount.

Step 9: Find your Address on the Zip Code Finder

Step 10: Now you will select your payment option.  There are several options. Three I will mention. One is to set up a bank transfer.Another is to set up Gaccount which requires setting up an online transfer system with your bank. And the third, is the fastest method which is to pay with a foreign credit card.

Select foreign credit card.

Step 11: Enter your credit card information and confirm it. And that's it. You're organic food should arrive in some days. If you are not home when the delivery person comes they may leave it at your homes security office. But first, they should call you when they arrive at your apartment and your not home.

  1. Awesome. I think we need a lot more posts like this, ones that show people how easy it is to go organic and support local farmers and the environment.

That said, for those with a moderate level of Korean skills, I would suggest using a company like Heuksalim, Hansalim, or Chorokmaeul over gMarket. The food will most likely be just about the same, but, if you ask me, it's better to support farmers and companies that do ONLY (sorry, no clue how to get italics here) organic whenever possible. Of course when you give money to gMarket, a good chunk of it goes to the farmers; but another chunks goes to the company, which in so many ways participates in environmental destruction. The companies I listed above, on the other hand, use their profits to expand training programs for farmers, develop organic pesticides and fertilizers, run organic-centered events, and so forth. Keep pushing the limits of what your consumer power can do!
