Considering Testosterone Balance in Herbalism

Though testosterone has a bad reputation and associations with bulked up meat-heads, that doesn't mean the plummeting testosterone rates in men is a good idea. Testosterone drops naturally as people age but keep it in balance with estrogene levels is important.

Reasons for why testosterone levels are plummeting are the [hytoestrogenic exposure to plants such as soy is at an unnatural high with the introduction of soy, exposing men and women to phytoestrogens at levels unprecedented in an Asian diet. And to that are the xenoestrogens derived from fossil fuel derrived substances such as plastic from the cheap acrylic gloves on my fingers to the waxy substance on the receipts at the supermarket to the plastic showerhead in the bathroom.

Stephen Buhner was the first herbalist I had read about that was concerned about male health and mitigating our exposure to it. He wrote a great book called the Natural Testosterone Plan with a list of herbs and supplements people can take.

Testosterone helps to keep us emotionally balanced, and maintains our muscle tones.
