Animal Tracking near, Chiaksan National Park

Today I had a great day of tracking in the forrest near Chiaksan National Park. It was even better when contrasted with my experiencee of leaving the polluted city of Wonju.
I took the 41 bus near Wonju train station to the north entrance of Chiakan National Park. Then I walked away from the entrance and climbed a hill where I saw deer tracks, feline tracks, and the tracks of a small mammal. I saw many tracks crossing over the other. I imagine many animals use this strip of land.

After an hour following a set of small mammal tracks I saw a solid marsupial track in ground which appeared related to American Oppossum. I have yet to have seen porcupine tracks though they are reported to be in the area.

Satisfied with my discovery, and with more questions than answers I started to walk and sometimes slide down the hills(very fun!) to the main road below. I exited out of the hill at a place further down the road. A barking dog indictated I came close to a house.

Tracking is like solving a mystery and its something Koreans did in these hills for thousands of years. Commiting the clues and the measurements in my memory of this tracks and the tracks in the coming months, will help me learn about these animals personalities and habits.
