A Re-Think of Ownership

I've read something from a writer recently that struck me as a rule. It's based on an indigenous person's idea of ownership

In the ownership we think of, it implies we can do whatever we want to the things we own.

An indigenous people have a different view of ownership. It's an ownership with responsibilitiy for the continuation of a community.

Anything you take from the land makes you responsible for its continuation. That means if you eat an animal you become responsible for its species survival. If you take anything from the planet, its the same.

Our destructiveness as a civilization is not because we use toilet paper ts because we don't take responsibility for the growth of the trees. And the same for everything we take.

Do you know the people who do these things for us? Is there evidence to the contrary that says that people in power have done badly to care for the planet? Do you trust the character of these people? If we don't know someones character can you be 100 percent certain that they will take care of your responsibilities for you? Should you be responsible for these things yourself?
